Rachael Lee studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Moray Welsh. After graduation she stayed in Manchester where she enjoyed a busy freelance career, working with, amongst others, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the orchestras of both the Northern Ballet and Opera North. She was also invited to join the teaching staff at Chethams School of Music. In 1991, Rachael joined the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra where she stayed for two years before joining the cello section of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. When not on stage with the RSNO, Rachael can often be found travelling throughout Scotland as an active member of the orchestra's education and outreach programmes.
